Joan Cooper Brown Endowed Fund
Joan Brown, long-time TDA Board member, announced the Joan Cooper Brown Endowment for the Legends of Dance at the 2024 Legends celebration on October 20. The funds will be used to cover the expenses for the performances at Legends of Dance celebrations. While Brown created the endowment with her initial gift, it is open for donations from anyone in the community. TDA & CoDEO Meetup
The Dance Archive and Colorado Dance Education Organization (CoDEO) will meet together on Saturday, August 3 from 2-4 PM at the Anderson Academic Commons on the DU campus. The event is open to anyone interested in dance education. Attendees will learn about the dance lesson plans created by The Dance Archive Education Committee, discuss the annual CoDEO Conference to be held in February 2025, and be able to network with other dance educators at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year. Refreshments will be provided.
Nominations Are Open
Since 2004, the Legends of Dance in Colorado program has honored people who have made outstanding contributions to dance in the Rocky Mountain West. Honorees represent the depth and diversity of Colorado’s vibrant dance and support community. Nominees could include dancers, choreographers, teachers, artistic directors, patrons, and promoters from all over the state whose careers span years of proven importance.
Criteria includes but is not limited to:
- The individual is still living and/or the organization is still in operation.
- Significant and sustained impact on dance in the state of Colorado
- Diversity in: Dance styles/forms, Geographic representation within the state, Racial/ethnic/cultural diversity, and Gender diversity
